“Over the last couple of years, the United States has faced devastating natural disasters, including wildfires, hurricanes, and floods. These disasters have tested the response and recovery capabilities of a variety of jurisdictions, requiring external resources. Emergency management practitioners deployed to these impacted jurisdictions have noticed a stark difference in the capabilities of jurisdictions that have attained the EMAP Accreditation and those that have not.

Upon receiving this feedback from emergency management practitioners, EMAP wanted to explore this idea further. EMAP sought out four Programs that have been actively involved in response and recovery efforts over the last couple of years to better understand how the EMAP Accreditation helped their jurisdictions respond to and recover from these catastrophic disasters.

EMAP will be spotlighting the following local Emergency Management Programs in this webinar: the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado; East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana; and Hillsborough County, Florida. EMAP will also be spotlighting the State of Kansas' response and recovery efforts within the state as well as their role as the National Coordinating State for EMAC during last year's hurricane season.”
