EMAP Survey Report Highlights Tangible Benefits of Accreditation

EMAP has released the 2024 EMAP Accreditation & Benefits Survey Report. The feedback received affirms that EMAP Accreditation is key to building a strong and resilient Program. Emergency managers from around the country have identified that accreditation is a powerful catalyst for standardization, operational efficiency, and support from leadership. The accreditation process helped Programs formalize their policies, strengthen their documentation, and align all programmatic efforts with a nationally recognized Standard. One of the most important benefits highlighted by the survey is that the EMAP process serves as a validation tool, increasing a Program’s credibility with its leadership, stakeholders, and the public, which can lead to greater funding opportunities, staffing, and institutional backing.

Apart from internal improvements, Programs also reported real-world benefits in disaster preparedness, training, and response coordination. Accredited Programs saw stronger interagency collaboration, enhanced public engagement, and benefited from long-term policy changes.

While some Programs faced roadblocks like limited resources and time constraints, there is still an overwhelming confirmation that EMAP Accreditation is not just a credential but an investment in community readiness and resilience.

Overall, the message from our Programs is clear: EMAP Accreditation empowers them to operate with greater clarity, confidence, and capability in the face of ever-evolving threats and hazards.

Thank you to all those who provided feedback!
